This study aimed to analyze the content and pedagogical approach of the reading textbook to determine its suitability to the needs of the learners. It also aimed to determine whether the official curriculum and training for teachers in non-formal education reflect evidence-based practices in teaching children to read in Arabic. It
also looked at whether the content and methods are sufficient for reintegration into the formal education (FE) system.
