Quick guide no. 3: implementing a national learning assessment

Learning is key for the people to achieve their full potential and for the social and economic development of the countries. Therefore, it is important for countries to know how much students are learning. To find out, strong learning assessments must be put in place. Countries implement national assessments to monitor and support learning for all. This is done by administering assessment tests to measure what students know and can do with their knowledge. Assessment results are then used to inform educational policies and practices
