Quality assurance

Since 1990s there has been a proliferation of literature on educational quality assurance across higher education and school systems (Tan 2000, 2002). Hitherto the plethora of literature tended to be on quality assurance models and educational challenges in the West, notably, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. There has been very little literature that attempts to paint the state-of-the-art of educational quality assurance systems in nations of the Asia-Pacific region. In this special issue of Educational Research for Policy and Practice are included a wide range of papers that provide a glimpse into the varied education quality issues in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
